Parallelism

PARALLELISM

Based on the oxford dictionaries, parallelism is the use of successive verbal constructions in poetry or prose which correspond in grammatical structure, sound, matter, meaning, etc.

In a sentence, parallelism adds to the balance and rhythm of the sentence. Parallelism can also occur in the same structured clauses.

Here are the examples of parallelism in the sentences:

1.         She likes jogging, running and swimming.

2.         He is an active, friendly, smart and diligent child.

3.         Daniel prefers to stay at home rather than go to the cinema tonight.

4.         She take her son to walk around and play with him in front of their house.

5.         Dinda explained how cookies are made, and I practiced her techniques at home.

Here are the wrong examples of parallelism in the sentences:

1.         She likes jogging, run and swimming.

2.         She take her son to walk around and played with him in front of their house.
